About the Artist

Devin Balara (she/her) is an artist currently living in New Orleans, LA. She holds an MFA in sculpture from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN and a BFA in sculpture from the University of North Florida. Her work has been exhibited at The Atlanta Contemporary, The International Sculpture Center, MOCA Jacksonville, NYC's Spring Break Art Fair, The Wassaic Project, Ortega Y Gasset in NYC, The University of Georgia (Athens), University of Tennessee (Knoxville), Monaco (St. Louis, MO) and Roots & Culture, Comfort Station, Goldfinch and Cleaner Gallery, all based in Chicago, IL .

The more sculptural side of Devin's art practice focuses on the realization of small doodles into large steel drawings. Most recently, these drawings stem from attempts at self-teaching geology and minerology and the items, imagery and experiments that appear to hold the key to learning something way over one's head. You can hear more about this work in an interview with Bad At Sports Podcast in September 2022 https://badatsports.com/2022/episode-820-devin-balara-and-bobby-gonzales/ and the work can be seen at https://devinbalara.com

Devin recently left a 7 year position as the Metal Studio Manager at Ox-Bow School of Art in Saugatuck, MI to start a small business in a warmer climate. Solid Space Glass represents a dream of working full time for herself after more than a decade of working as an artist for other entities. Solid Space promises dedication to detail and shining craftsmanship. Customers can expect work that reflects an authentic passion for design and a conceptual flavor highlighted by the artist's sense of humor and far-reaching interests.

Every bit of support helps me realize this dream, so thank you for reading and spreading the word!
